Joy Fleming, PhD, PsyD

As young girl Joy was troubled by what she read about God’s words to the woman in Genesis 3. So she prayed and asked God to make the passage clear to her in her lifetime. Years later, after completing her studies at Wheaton College and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, she was commissioned as a missionary professor with the EFCA and dedicated 7 years of her life to studying the Hebrew text of Genesis 2-3.

Joy Fleming completed her PhD in Old Testament Theology at the University of Strasbourg, France, and served as Old Testament Professor at the Faculté de Théologie Evangélique de Bangui in French-speaking Africa.

Back in the United States Joy pursued her PsyD at the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, Minnesota, and now is a practicing licensed psychologist in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Rev. Bruce C. E. Fleming, DEA

Bruce grew up in a church where his grandmother and later his mother taught the largest adult Bible class. He saw God bless their teaching every week. After serving on the staff of his local Youth for Christ ministry, and as a Youth Pastor, Bruce went on to study under Dr. John R.W. Stott and Dr. Walter C. Kaiser at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.

When Joy was doing her research he commented to her that her discoveries influenced how he was thinking on a number of related New Testament passages. He later wrote his doctoral dissertation at the University of Strasbourg on those passages.

The material in Joy’s and Bruce’ research serves as the basis for The Eden Podcast and the four volumes in The Eden Book Series which begins with The Book of Eden, Genesis 2-3.
