During the Dark Ages of history the messages of two key “3:16” Bible verses were lost to the churches.
In the New Testament. “How to personally know God” was unclear until the truth of the Gospel in John 3:16 was clarified.
This began to happen in the sixteenth century and was further clarified in the centuries that followed. Key voices spreading this message? Martin Luther and Billy Graham.
Key message? “God calls on every individual to be born again through faith in Christ.”
Key verse? John 3:16
In the Old Testament. “How God created and calls both men and women to fully love and serve him” was unclear until the positive message of Eden in Genesis 2-3 and especially in Genesis 3:16 was clarified.
This began to happen in the eighteenth century and has been clarified especially in our day and age. Key voices spreading this message? Katherine Booth and Dr. Joy Fleming.
Key message? “God didn’t curse Eve (or Adam) or limit woman in any way.”
Key verse? Genesis 3:16
“True” the verse? Sadly, the positive message of Eden has been unclear due to mistranslation and misinterpretation of Genesis 3:16. We need to “true” the verse because many current translations make it look like God severely punished the woman in one or more ways. But careful research of the Hebrew text of Genesis 2-3 reveals a positive message that has been missing in the life of our churches and Christian families.
What has been done?
- John 3:16. The power of the press and Christian education was harnessed to spread the positive message of John 3:16 to the world. Modern missions have preached the Word and trained people old and young to spread the good news!
- Genesis 3:16. The Tru316 Foundation is using the power of modern media to spread the positive message of Genesis 3:16 by means of The Eden Podcast and The Eden Book Series. Episodes of The Eden Podcast have been downloaded in 130 countries more than 200,000 times. This ministry of adult education is making an impact. Now we must ask, What can be done to educate our children and youth?
